| The most exotic of Richard's foreign
trips was Sudan (27.08.77 - 14.09.77), when I believe he and Lorna stayed
with former work colleagues at some fairly remote location to which they
flew from Khartoum in a DC3. Near the end of the holiday, back in Khartoum,
Richard was detained for questioning by police or palace security guards
for a few hours. I can't remember if his film was confiscated. Although
it must have been a worrying incident, Richard's diary merely states "Got
into 'bother' outside President's Palace over camera". Whether he was
so calm at the time, I don't know. |
